Modern & Contemporary Dance
Modern Dance derives from technique developed in Ballet and takes movement to a new modern level for students. The IDTA syllabus follows set exercises and choreographed routines throughout each grade to allow students to build up strength & flexibility and start understanding the different styles and energy dance has to offer. This class is also extremely beneficial to those students going onto to GCSE, A-Level & Degree in Dance or may want to study Contemporary Dance as they progress.
In addition to Modern Dance we also offer Contemporary Dance – students study release floor work, Martha Graham and Merce Cunningham techniques. The aim of all of our subjects at Timmins is to offer students a vast all round understanding of dance. A strong ballet technique is highly recommended to study both Modern & Contemporary Dance.
Students have gone onto study Modern & Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban, London Contemporary Dance, Middlesex University, The Royal Ballet School, Central School of Ballet & the CAT Contemporary Dance Course in Birmingham.
